An excellent unbeaten opening partnership between Chris Gayle and Kieran Powell helped us finish the day on 150-0 in reply to New Zealand's first innings total of 351. While Chris continued in his aggressive, stroke-playing one-day mode, Kieran was more circumspect compiling his own half century, a few wonderfully timed straight drives and leg side clips punctuating his display of solid front foot and back foot defence.
Assad Fudadin, very eager for his turn to bat on the flat Antiguan wicket, and to make the most of it when it eventually arrives, hit yet more throw downs at the end of play. Half an hour of hits in the nets at 8 am this morning before any other player was at the ground, highlighted his excellent practice ethic and desire to perform well. He's a fine player and within ouching distance of a big Test score.
Enjoyed watching Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels driving around the hotel in a golf buggy - obviously the quickest and easiest way to get to the local supermarket.
