A Week in Sri Lanka

A Week in Sri Lanka

Jet- lag out of the system, several practices and two warm-up matches and the side is just about ready to take on Australia in our first match of the 20 20 World Cup on Saturday.

The weather has been hot and humid. Playing and training shirts are being changed like dance suits on an episode of Strictly Come Dancing.

While the Jamaicans sleep and the Trinidadians play tennis, the coaching staff are using today's official day off to study footage of the opposition and put together a game plan to combat the Aussies.

The hotel is abuzz with players - several other teams also staying here- TV and media crews, and supporters. The hosts Sri Lanka got off to winning start last night against Zimbabwe.

With snake-charmers, elephants and the famous Tuk-Tuk taxis no more than a stone's throw from the hotel, there is never a dull moment in Colombo.

Several New Zealanders are recovering from food poisoning following a buffet at a neighboroughing hotel, so whether it's King Cobras or dodgy pork, one always has to be on one's mettle here! That, and more than a little bit of luck!
